Also, since Kihei is also close to the Wailea area with its luxury shopping and fine dining, there's something for everyone.

Location And Accessibility

Situated on Maui's southwestern coast, Kihei is conveniently located with easy access to other parts of the island. Wailea is a 15-minute drive from central Kihei on the Piilani Highway. The Honoapiilani Highway connects Kihei to Kahului, the island's commercial hub, and other popular destinations. The Kahului Airport is approximately a 30-minute drive away. Kaanapali is approximately a 45-minute drive on the Honoapiilani Highway.

  • Single-Family Homes: They are ideal for families, pet lovers and those who prefer a yard or outdoor space. Kihei offers luxurious beachfront homes and well as more family oriented subdivisions. 
  • Single Family Homes with Ohanas: Homes with accessory dwellings, are called Ohanas in Hawaii. This type of property allows for legal rental unit for multifamily situations. This can be a wonderful opportunity for multigenerational living or rental income. 
  • Residential Condominiums: Kihei has a wide range of condos available, from affordable studio units, pet friendly complexes, condos with small yards to more spacious condos and those with resort like amenities. Condos are a popular option for those who prefer low-maintenance living and access to amenities.

Vacation Properties

  • Vacation Rentals Condos: Due to Kihei's popularity as a tourist destination, many homeowners choose to rent out their condos as vacation rentals. From ocean view to garden view, there are different options for different budgets. These are usually either zoned Hotel or Maui County approved for STVR apartment zoned. Areas

South Kihei: South Kihei is known for its stunning natural beauty, including pristine beaches with white sand and clear waters. The picturesque landscapes, along with views of the Pacific Ocean and neighboring islands, attract those who appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. It's a great area for snorkeling, surfing, paddleboarding, and swimming. Its proximity to the luxury amenities in Wailea also makes this area attractive.

Central Kihei: Central Kihei is convenient because of its proximity to essential services such as grocery stores, healthcare facilities, schools, and other amenities. It also has a more community-oriented atmosphere, with local events, pickle ball groups, a sense of neighborhood camaraderie and festivities. Its beach parks are great for picnics, sunset strolls, and windsurfing and kiteboarding. This area has some trade winds, but not as strong as North Kihei and Ma’alaea.

North Kihei: North Kihei's proximity to Kahului, Maui's primary commercial center, provides residents with access to additional services, employment opportunities, and a broader range of amenities. It is also a short drive to the amenities in Central Kiehi. Its beaches are a long and uncrowded stretch of golden sand. Its length makes it ideal for long walks, jogging, or simply finding a quiet spot away from the crowds. North Kiehi is also known for stronger trade winds that flow from the northeast. These winds can be relatively consistent and bring a cooling breeze to the area. There are residential subdivisions and both large and Boutique condominium complexes.

Maui Meadows: Although Maui Meadows is not technically in Kihei it is noteworthy due to its proximity. Maui Meadows is a residential community located on the mountain side of South Kihei Rd, just below Kula in South Kihei. Many properties in Maui Meadows offer stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, neighboring islands, and the lush tropical landscape. Residents can enjoy breathtaking sunsets and picturesque surroundings.


Maui Meadows tends to be a quiet and residential area, providing a peaceful living environment away from the hustle and bustle of more touristy areas. The atmosphere is often serene, making it an ideal place for those seeking a tranquil lifestyle. While Maui Meadows is located upland, it is still relatively close to the beautiful beaches of South Maui. Residents can easily access popular beaches for swimming, snorkeling, and other water activities.


The community is known for its custom-built homes and larger lots compared to some other residential areas. This can provide residents with more space, privacy, and the opportunity to create a personalized living space.

Sugar Beach: Sugar Beach, also known as Kealia Beach, is a beautiful and popular five mile long stretch of golden sand that is perfect for leisurely walks and jogging. Despite its beauty, Sugar Beach is often less crowded compared to some of the more popular tourist beaches on Maui. This contributes to a more relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, making it a favorite among locals and visitors seeking a quieter beach experience.

Waipuilani Beach Park: A family-friendly beach park with a grassy area with scattered trees, excellent for picnics and sunbathing. Waipuilani Beach offers a mix of sandy and rocky areas and is suitable for, sunset strolls, wind surfing, kite boarding, surfing, paddle boarding and beach combing. There are also a community pickleball courts for enthusiasts.

Kalama Beach Park: Kalama Beach Park is not just a beach, but also a park with recreational facilities. It features a sandy beach area, a skate park, volleyball courts, and a playground. The park is often used for community events and has a lively atmosphere.

Cove Park: Cove Park is known for its surf break, making it a popular spot for beginner and intermediate surfers. The beach is relatively small but provides a laid-back setting for those looking to enjoy the ocean or watch surfers catch waves.

Charley Young Beach: Located near the northern end of Kihei, Charley Young Beach is a smaller, crescent-shaped beach with gentle waves. It's a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike, offering a more secluded and intimate atmosphere.

Keawakapu Beach: A picturesque stretch of coastline with clear waters, soft white sand, perfect for long walks, swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. This Kihei beach is a half-mile walk to the Wailea Resort. It's also known for its scenic views of Molokini and relaxed atmosphere.

Pickleball: If you're a fan of pickleball and looking for a great place to play, Waipuilani Beach Park is the perfect spot. This park has eight dedicated hard courts with permanent lines and nets, making it one of the most popular pickleball destinations in Kihei, HI. There are restrooms, and best of all, it's completely free. The courts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and cannot be reserved.
